Especially in the warmer seasons, when people wear lighter summer clothes, arms with sagging skin are more noticeable, which might create a feeling of unease. When the psychological strain becomes too big, only surgery will help. A forearm lift can be and is often combined with a forearm liposuction. Forearms with little excess skin can be corrected without considerable scarring by hiding the scar in the axilla region. The more frequent variety of sagging requires scarring along the inner side of the forearm from the armpit to the inner side of the elbow. The final result does not become visible until a few months after the operation, and the scar will remain perceptible for about one year.
The surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on its scale and complexity, and takes 1.5-2 hours. In a forearm lift procedure, the previously marked excess skin, as well as the underlying fat tissue, will be removed by way of different techniques, which have been adapted to the individual circumstances. An in-patient stay is not necessarily required. Wearing a forearm bandage for the first 4 weeks after the operation can significantly facilitate the healing of the scar. An incapacity for work for the duration of one week is to be expected. The postoperative pain is negligible. As with any other operation Dr. Matejic will consult you in detail prior to the forearm lift operation.
