A fulfilled sex life is demonstrably one of the most important factors of overall contentment and quality of life. More than a few women feel uncomfortable during sports activities like horseback riding or cycling.
Labia reduction / augmentation
Ideally, the labia majora should barely cover the labia minora. However, often after pregnancies a disproportion of the labial size may occur, causing the labia minora to protrude. This can lead to swelling caused by strain on the excess labial part, which is perceived as rather troublesome.
In a labia reduction procedure, the amount of skin which is to be removed is precisely measured during the operational planning and removed in an outpatient procedure. The operation is performed under local anesthesia and lasts about 30 minutes. There is no need to remove the self-absorbing stitches afterwards. In the opposite case, where the labia are perceived as too small, a fat injection can bring about an esthetic correction; a surgical treatment, however, is not an option. All sports activities should rest for a period of 14 days; the same applies to sexual activities. An thorough cleansing of the genital area is necessary after going to the toilet. An incapacity for work for a few days is to be expected.
Mons pubis reduction
As a result of hormonal changes caused by various illnesses, menopause or overweight, a prominent mons pubic can occur, which disagrees with the aesthetic sensitivity of many affected. In a mons pubis reduction, possibly along with tightening the skin, the excess fat is sucked off through a small incision in the pubic area. Depending on the scope and complexity of the procedure and the patient’s condition, the operation is performed under local anesthesia, under semi-conscious sedation or under general anesthesia and lasts 1 hour. The postoperative procedure is very similar to that after a labia reduction.
